At the YMCA of Greater Seattle, we focus on strengthening the community, as well as strong kids and families. And as we all know, our community is continually changing and becoming more diverse and multicultural.
One of the ways that we continue to ensure that we are culturally relevant is by learning about the cultures around us. Thus, in conjunction with the YMCA of the USA, we have sent one of our staffers, Becky Stapleton, to Guatemala for five months. Becky's goals are to learn more about the culture, to share her skills with the YMCA of Guatemala staff and to polish her Spanish language skills. While she’s away, she’ll post updates and photos about her experiences on our new blog, Seattle Y in the World.
